Happiness Newsletter
January 2009
Welcome to you as a reader of the Monthly Happiness Newsletter
You might like to know my definition of happiness:
You feel joy.
You feel life is good.
You feel contented.
You know down deep inside that you are happy.
I'm here today to help you bring more happiness into your life. I want to tell you about a picture of a plaque that hangs in my kitchen. It says,
"Celebrate! Each day is a gift."
I look at it.
I read it.
I celebrate.
Like my hero Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Yesterday was history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is the present. It's a gift."
Pretend for just a moment that your brain is a gift. It has become a Hershey candy bar with almonds. 40% of your brain is controlled by your genes, chromosomes and DNA. That 40% doesn't change. (It gives you your brown hair or blue yes and determines if you are going to be a tall or short person.) Now 10% of your brain's activities comes from the circumstances of your life. Yes, 10% comes from whether you went to school, got a job, lost a job, got married, got divorced, had kids., etc.
But look! Now we have found that 50%, of your brain is flexible and pliable for the rest of your life. It doesn't matter how old you are. 50% of your brain will listen to you. That means HALF OF YOUR BRAIN is always there to hear the messages you give it. So, please give your brain positive messages. Positive messages will bring more happiness into your life.
Tell yourself:
I am a wonderful person.
I have many fine qualities.
I have the ability to love.
I am an honorable person.
I deserve happiness..
Remember, happy people live longer and are healthier than unhappy people.
